I hope it's been a peaceful and enjoyable Christmas for you all. Even more do I wish you all a very happy, healthy and fun-packed 2012 with no nasty surprises lurking on the horizon.
Don't think our lovely Andi will be at our next reading group, nor quite a few others in the coming year, as she departs for Chelsea and a new job soon. Lots of love and good wishes go with you, baby girl. Don't forget to read the blog, read the books and post your comments on the blog if we can't meet in person. Maybe we should have at least one reading group meeting either in London or at some midway point during 2012. It would do us good to be more adventurous.
Tried to get into Chatsworth over Christmas for farm shop and general ramble but the damned place was shut till 9 January! How very dare they? But we did manage a cobweb-clearing walk with a knife-like wind whistling through our ears. It was the kind of cold hard bright winter day which is magic if you are well wrapped up - hiking boots pretty firmly welded to the old trotters this winter. And saw the hilarious spectacle of some very small deer being chased into the river by sheep. They were very sinister looking sheep too. On their escape from the river, the deer were trapped in a huge circle of sheep, with sheep lookouts on nearby vantage points. It was reminiscent of a wagon train being attacked by the indians...and as in all good movies, the deer finally escaped back to Deer Hall or whatever their abode is called.
Hopefully Erica should be able to attend the 12 January meeting as it is one of her available times?
See you all at next reading group, my dears. Much love. xx
